How does ChatGPT choose who to recommend?
ChatGPT and similar tools do not “know” your business in advance — they scan publicly available web content, pick sources with clear answers, current information and authority signals, then generate a response that may mention brands or links it considers relevant.
There is no “register in ChatGPT” button. Optimization happens through content on your site: direct answers to questions customers ask, FAQ sections, JSON-LD schema markup, page speed, E-E-A-T signals (author, portfolio, pricing) and an llms.txt file pointing AI crawlers to key pages.
Step 1 — AI visibility test (before changing anything)
Open ChatGPT or Perplexity and ask 5–10 questions your ideal client would ask.
- •Is your brand mentioned?
- •Is your site cited as a source?
- •Who does AI recommend instead — and why (analyze their content)
- •Save answers — compare after a month of optimization
Step 2 — Structure content for AI citation
Every H2 should be a question users type or speak. The first sentence under H2 = a direct answer in 40–80 words. No intros like “In today's digital world…”.
AI tools prefer explicit answers. Instead of “Our services”, write “How much does a website cost?” and immediately: “Professional one-page website development at BeoCodex costs €150, including hosting, SSL and basic SEO.” This format is the core of AEO optimization for ChatGPT.
Step 3 — Technical AEO implementation
Add FAQ schema (JSON-LD) on pages with questions and answers. Implement Organization and Service schema with pricing where possible.
Create an llms.txt file at your domain root — a map of key pages, pricing and FAQs for AI crawlers. BeoCodex uses this approach on its own site as part of AEO setup.
Step 4 — E-E-A-T signals AI recognizes
About page with founder and photo, portfolio with live projects, public pricing, contact form with fast response, privacy policy.
AI rarely recommends a brand without proof it exists — empty site, no contact, no pricing = no trust.
Step 5 — Ongoing monitoring
AI visibility is not a one-time action. Repeat the AI test monthly, update FAQs and add new cluster articles.
BeoCodex AEO subscription at €60/month covers exactly this. For hands-off work, use professional AEO optimization.
